I managed end to end the project that created Company Online 2.0, the public platform where a company can now be incorporated fully online. I coordinated a 36-person multidisciplinary team from concept to launch.
Overview
Company Online 2.0 replaced the original 2006 version and allows a company to be incorporated fully online in a few minutes. The project was funded by the RRP and led by the IRN, with a clear goal: make Portugal one of the fastest countries to start a business, with no paperwork and no in-person visits.
Challenge
Replace, in under two years and without disrupting the service, the company incorporation platform that had been running since 2006. It required integrating several public bodies, ending in-person visits and delivering a simple, fast and reliable experience.
Solution
- User-centred development plan, with agile methodologies to accelerate delivery.
- Integrated authentication and digital signature.
- Documents generated automatically from the information provided, reducing steps.
- Integration with the Tax Authority, Social Security and payment systems.
- Close management of internal teams and suppliers to align the technical, legal and operational strands.
Results
- Company incorporation request in 10 minutes.
- 6+ government integrations with critical entities such as the Tax Authority, Social Security, RCBE, Autenticacao.gov and payment systems.
- Significant increase in the percentage of company incorporations completed online by non-professional users.
- Reduced context costs for users.
